Do You Know How Touch Screen (Glass) Problems? : solve with "TeslaTouch."



Now you know why apple's  iPhone front screen is made of glass? there is because of user can see and interact with interface. But how will be if it's back side of iPhone would make with glass? 

Yes I also shocked when I know about this type of  user interface in back side. but that's is true. Apple is going to make it's iPhone backside with glass .

But now I am going to talk how this glass Touch Screen has one big problem solution? 


Glass touch screen is common to now days. every where you will see this type of touch screen. And I am sure that you have now touch screen in you hand. In rail-way station, bus stop, museum, you will find touch screen. And now Microsoft is going to make latest two interface touch screen. that means? that means if know that if you touch on your screen it understands only your first touch. but with second touch at same time that will be not considered by that glass. that type of gadget has already been launched by Microsoft. I will write about soon. But till than know about how touch screen problem now on your finger interface? 

the way a team of Disney Researchers sees it, there's one huge problem with this technology: All glass screens feel exactly the same.

Now see difference between hardware Keyboard and Touch Keyboard: see, if you press key on hardware keyboard, where you can feel whether your fingers are hitting the right keys. but when you use touch keyboard, where the letters "q" and "w" feel exactly the same -- as does the space between them 


That's the problem that Disney Research is hoping to solve with a new technology it's calling "TeslaTouch."


This type of touch screen was first time successfully demonstrated in  tech conference in New York this week, uses a small static force to control friction between a user's finger and the touch screen.

"It's kind of like a buzzing or a vibration. It has the same effect as a buzz," said Chris Harrison, one of the Disney researchers and a Ph.D. student at Carnegie Mellon University. "But if you carefully tune the frequency and the vibration of the panel you can actually create things that feel like sandpaper or rubber or a wall."

TelsaTouch infuses finger-driven interfaces with physical feedback. The technology is based on the electrovibration principle, which can programmatically vary the electrostatic friction between fingers and a touch panel. Importantly, there are no moving parts, unlike most tactile feedback technologies, which use vibration motors. This allows for different fingers to feel different sensations. When combined with an interactive graphical display, TeslaTouch enables the design of a wide variety of interfaces that allow the user to feel virtual elements through touch. For example, when dragging a file, the level of friction could convey the file size. Objects could "snap" into place when designing a presentation. Or perhaps with a quick "rub" of your email application's icon, you could sense how many emails are unread. Finally, imagine a (flat) touch keyboard where the virtual keys can be felt. The possibilities are endless.




Tactile feedback based on electrovibration has several compelling properties. It is fast, low-powered, dynamic, and can be used in a wide range of interaction scenarios and applications, including multitouch interfaces. Our system demonstrates an exceptionally broad bandwidth and uniformity of response across a wide range of frequencies and amplitudes. Furthermore, the technology is highly scalable and can be used efficiently on touch surfaces of any size, shape and configuration, including large interactive tables, hand-held mobile devices, as well as curved, flexible and irregular touch surfaces. Lastly, because our design does not have any moving parts, it can be easily added to existing devices with minimal physical modification.


TelsaTouch was developed at Disney Research, Pittsburgh. The industrial design of the TeslaTouch mobile prototype was produced by the CMU School of Design. Disney Research is a network of research laboratories at The Walt Disney Company. Key proficiencies are in Computer Graphics, Video Processing, Computer Vision, Robotics, Radio and Antennas, Wireless Communications, Human-Computer Interaction, and Behavioral Sciences, with developing competency in areas 
such as data mining and displays.

2010 Paris Motor Show: Lamborghini Sesto Elemento Concept finally breaks cover

New tech, new generation.  Today i will talk about new latest new concept car. You must thinking about mercedies but no, this car has been launched in one auto sho that was held in paris. 

Organisers are saying that  there will more than 10 lacs people to show this auro show. Now come to the topic on car. This car was in paris auto show named  Lamborghini. this car is Sesto Elemento Concept car.

The Sesto element Concept from Lamborghini is meant to represent the sixth element in the periodic table and that is occupied by the
element carbon. that straight means it will be too light in weight. means if course super fast car. 

The total weight of the concept is 999 kg which translates into a healthy 2,202 lb. This weight is inclusive of the engine unit which is a V10 and also the all wheel drive transmission. The V10 delivers 570 hp and accelerates the car from 0 to 100 kmph in just 2.5 seconds which is the same for the Gallardo Superleggera. The top speed of the concept is well over 300 kmph or200 mph.

 I said that is super fast car in new latest changing technology. 

Now i will talk what car specialist says about this car. In their own laungage, the car is supposed to have perfect aerodynamics as per the cars maker. The ribs up front, two of them which helps to improve the stiffness of the component as well as in guiding the cool air directly to the radiator which is located behind them and to the brakes as well. Right beneath the front windscreen there are two red color triangular shaped openings. It is through these openings that the cool air is flowing! 

The president and CEO of  Lamborghini, Stephan Winkelmann had said of the Sesto Elemento: “The Lamborghini Sesto Elemento shows how the future of the super sports car can look – extreme lightweight engineering, combined with extreme performance results in extreme driving fun. Pranav Mistry’s Sixth Sense Technology.


Sixth sense! you know all about sixth sense very well. Till now you were completely aware of five sense. but now a days as technology is growing up very fast, there is more space at the bottom. New technology is now sixth sense?


 I will say in answer about this is latest new tech for your future is sixth sense. now you are reading this article on your pc or laptop or on your mobile, but after some days, you will read in on any surface. YES, sixth sense means that you can do anything without pc, means you can make any surface ad monitor, keyboard, or mouse. your palm will be used as your photo frame, your table surface can be used as keyboard. with sixth sense you can see video in your news paper! ! !

 Now, we use the projector to project the visual information by using some surface like white curtain or may be walls and the moving objects around us can be used as interfaces. In the meantime, the camera recognizes and feeds the user’s hand gestures and physical objects on the screen using computer-vision based techniques, somewhat like a touchscreen 


So strange ? don't be that. this is all right. And credit goes to Mr. Pranav Mistry . Pranav Mistry has redefined the meaning of this word using visual tracking fiducials, which is going to change the whole dynamics of how the digital world and the real world operate. He is a MIT’s Media Lab PhD student in the Fluid Interfaces Group. The technology says, that we can bridge the gap between the real and virtual world.


And the news is the model based on above theory will be in market soon. I think it's price will be around $350. Ya, that's right! you think it's costly ! but it's beginning.

Android Tablet PC: Samsung Galaxy Tab shows its advantages (in comparison to iPad) in a video on YouTube

Right now, Samsung is promoting Galaxy Tab, the expected tablet of the company which has been scheduled to hit the stores in Europe and United States in a few weeks. Also, it will roll out to more regions of the world before the end of the year (for example some countries of Latin America). The announcement of the launch of Galaxy Tab has received an excellent reception from the press and an unexpected interest from potential users.

Everything began with the Apple iPad, which was first announced in January 2010, receiving mixed reactions. There was positive opinions focused on three aspects: The product quality that Apple always offers, the Apps platform which had already a growing number of developers of iPhone and iPod Touch applications, and the effectiveness of Apple when the company introduces new products. On the other hand, with the negative opinions, the usefulness of the product was put in doubt; iPad attracted criticism due to the lack of support for Adobe Flash (that is a real problem if you want to browse some websites), and the lack of cameras which makes impossible the implementation of several functionalities (such as video call).

At this time, Samsung is getting ready  to launch the major competitor of the iPad, and this company has made a decision that apparently would be the right decision according to some analysts: Its Galaxy Tab is smaller than iPad and comes with a 7-inch screen (the iPad has a 9.7-inch screen); for that reason, the Samsung tablet would be carried in a more easy way and would be grasped with only one hand, which is something difficult with the Apple product.

The rest of the features include several missing features in the iPad: Adobe Flash to browse the web without restrictions, two cameras with video call functionality, and Android 2.2 as operating system, which is the OS that is growing faster than any other in the market today.

Robots taught to deceive

Researchers from the Georgia Institute of Technology have developed algorithms that allow a robot to determine whether it should deceive a human or other intelligent machine and which techniques to use for the best deceptive strategy. The new work, published in the International Journal of Social Robotics, is believed to be the first detailed examination of robot deception.

Georgia Tech's Alan Wagner (right) says that robots capable of deception will likely be valuable for military and search and rescue operations. A search and rescue robot may need to deceive in order to calm or receive cooperation from a panicking victim. Robots on the battlefield with the power of deception will be able to successfully hide and mislead the enemy to keep themselves and valuable information safe.

Wagner and his co-researchers focused on the actions, beliefs and communications of a robot attempting to hide from another robot to develop programs that successfully produced deceptive behavior. Their first step was to teach the deceiving robot how to recognize a situation that warranted the use of deception. The researchers used interdependence theory and game theory to develop algorithms that tested the value of deception in a specific situation. A situation had to satisfy two key conditions to warrant deception -- there must be conflict between the deceiving robot and the seeker, and the deceiver must benefit from the deception.

Once a situation was deemed to warrant deception, the robot carried out a deceptive act by providing a false communication to benefit itself. The technique developed by the Georgia Tech researchers based a robot's deceptive action selection on its understanding of the individual robot it was attempting to deceive.

To test their algorithms, the researchers ran 20 hide-and-seek experiments with two autonomous robots. Colored markers were lined up along three potential pathways to locations where the robot could hide. The hider robot randomly selected a hiding location from the three location choices and moved toward that location, knocking down colored markers along the way. Once it reached a point past the markers, the robot changed course and hid in one of the other two locations. The presence or absence of standing markers indicated the hider's location to the seeker robot.

"The hider's set of false communications was defined by selecting a pattern of knocked over markers that indicated a false hiding position in an attempt to say, for example, that it was going to the right and then actually go to the left," explained Wagner.

The hider robots were able to deceive the seeker robots in 75 percent of the trials, with the failed experiments resulting from the hiding robot's inability to knock over the correct markers to produce the desired deceptive communication.

"The experimental results weren't perfect, but they demonstrated the learning and use of deception signals by real robots in a noisy environment," said Wagner. "The results were also a preliminary indication that the techniques and algorithms described in the paper could be used to successfully produce deceptive behavior in a robot."

The researchers are not unaware of the ethical issues that robotic deception creates. "We have been concerned from the very beginning with the ethical implications related to the creation of robots capable of deception and we understand that there are beneficial and deleterious aspects," explained co-researcher Ronald Arkin. "We strongly encourage discussion about the appropriateness of deceptive robots to determine what, if any, regulations or guidelines should constrain the development of these systems."

Testing out Lexus' safety features

ALAMEDA, Calif.--I'm hurtling down a piece of asphalt, my right foot jamming the accelerator of the Lexus I'm driving to the floor, speed building rapidly, my heart rate rising, when suddenly, I add my left foot to the mix, jamming it down hard on the brake pedal.

For anyone who's been paying attention the last year or so, the memory of Toyota's highly publicized troubles related to cars suddenly and irrevocably accelerating should still be fresh. And that's almost certainly why the Lexus representative--and professional driver--who's sitting in the passenger seat next to me is so intent on making sure I understand that, on this car at least, there's a system for overriding a full throttle situation and getting the vehicle to come to a quick, and orderly, stop.
Lexus, of course, is owned by Toyota. So it's no wonder that during the morning of demonstrations of Lexus safety features I attended here Thursday, this so-called "Smart Stop" technology was one of the highlights.
Over the course of about two hours, I joined a group of other reporters and bloggers in a series of demos designed to showcase the latest Lexus safety features. We got chances to try out driving conditions that tested the cars' vehicle stability control, traction control, antilock brakes, and, yes, the smart stop technology.
This event, of course, was all about Lexus and its roster of features. And because I'm not a car reviewer by trade, I wondered where all this technology fit into the larger automotive environment. The answer, I was told by an independent reviewer who was on hand, was that there wasn't anything unique about Lexus' offerings--Mercedes, BMW, and a few other manufacturers all offer similar sets of safety features, he told me--but that all in all, it was a noteworthy collection, and one that seemed to giver Lexus drivers a nice set of things to feel comfortable about when getting behind the wheel of one of the company's cars.
Vehicle stability
I'm a pretty conservative driver. It's true that I have no problem going 85 on open roads, but I don't tend to mess about much when I'm driving. Maybe a rollover accident 11 years ago while driving 80 in the desert cured me of any automotive wildness I might have had.
So on Thursday, when I was being encouraged to floor the car I was driving and then take it into a sharp curve without braking, I was more than a little hesitant.
But I'd already seen another one of my fellow writers do this move, after the pro driver himself had demonstrated it, so I figured, how hard can it be?
Before testing out the technology, we first tried the maneuver with all of the vehicle stability and traction controls disabled. We rolled the car--first a model with rear-wheel drive, and then one with all-wheel drive--up to a start point on a tarp covered in a nice sheen of water. Then we hit the gas. The rear-wheel drive car shimmied a bit on the tarp before hitting the pavement, and then the goal was to get it up to 27 miles an hour before turning hard into a sharp curve. Without the technology, and in the rear-wheel drive Lexus, the vehicle made the turn, but it definitely pulled to the left as I steered.
Moving to the all-wheel-drive car, and engaging the traction and vehicle stability control systems--it was totally different. First, the car barely twitched as it sped off the tarp, and then, when I yanked the steering wheel hard to the right, the car responded, quickly and easily, a beeping sound indicating that the safety technology had automatically gone into effect accompanying a quick and very noticeable jump in G-forces.
The idea, the pro driver explained, is that the vehicle stability and traction control systems are designed to sense when wheels are losing traction--say on wet surfaces, or when going through a hard turn--and automatically apply brakes to those wheels. This means, in theory, that the car will stay under control, even under extreme conditions.
Of course, any extreme situation may vary, and my experience by no means guarantees safety in any other circumstances. But I admit, I was impressed. There's no doubt that when I was driving the Lexus with all-wheel drive and the traction and vehicle stability control systems engaged, it felt almost totally stable, even as we rounded the very tight curve. The beeping sound indicated the system was helping out, and that was actually reassuring--it felt good knowing that this technology was helping to keep the car solid while it was undergoing something that I suspect might have ended up flipping my own nine-year-old Subaru.
Smart Stop
Though Toyota went through its much-publicized PR nightmare involving out-of-control acceleration, it's unlikely that such a problem is going to happen again any time soon. And with Lexus, I don't know of any cases where it happened. Still, being a Toyota brand, it's clear that the company wants people to know that even if a mat should get stuck under the accelerator, or something else might cause the throttle to get stuck, the Lexus safety systems are there to take over.
And that's just what happened. Even with my foot all the way to the floor--it actually took me three tries before I could overcome some subconscious tick that made me pull back a bit on the gas--hitting the brake all the way governed the situation. There was a brief, perhaps half-second, pause while the car waits to see if, yes, you really do want to stop, or that you are intentionally pounding the gas (as evidenced by no lessening of pressure on the brake or the accelerator), and then, as I mentioned above, the car came quickly to a stop.
The point, it was clear, is that this Lexus had a system in place that would override in the very unlikely event of uncontrolled acceleration. And that, obviously, is intended to calm anyone down who might worry that a Lexus, as a Toyota brand, might suffer from the same malady that got so much attention in recent months.

Antilock brakes
The last driving test I got to do was one that showcased what good antilock brakes can do.
Here, we again tested two cars--one with ABS and one without. The goal: accelerate full-force down a straight track and then hit the brakes and turn the wheel to avoid hitting a bunch of cones at the end.

HTC has finally revealed the next generation of Android Smartphones, named as HTC Desire HD and HTC Desire Z, both of them will be featuring Android 2.2 OS with HTC Sense UI running on top of it.
