Verizon will to sell Apple's iPad : Apple's iPad success is causing PC market pain

Apple (AAPL: stock) and Verizon (VZ: stock) is the leading company ever for developing new tech gadgets and basically for iPhone, iPad, iPad. But How will it if two warming company will sell it's product with different company's product? 

Yes, This is happening in Tech market. Verizon is going to sell the product of Apple Inc.'s iPad at the end of this month. It's like not to believe but It is true that is said by Company itself on Thursday.

The news follows published reports that Verizon Wireless will start selling a version of the iPhone early next year. The companies have not confirmed the reports, and Verizon Wireless has downplayed the possibility of an iPhone for its current network.

If you know AT&T Inc. is Apple's exclusive U.S. carrier for the iPhone. And on other hand it's also the only U.S. carrier that's compatible with the "3G" version of the iPad, That is allowing  for cellular data access.

there are two types of Apple's iPad. First one is 3G and second one is non 3G. Hence Verizon Wireless is not going to 3G version of iPad. nstead, it will sell the Wi-Fi version, with the option of bundling it with a "MiFi" gadget for about $130.

The iPad is also sold by several retail chains, including Best Buy Inc. AT&T said separately Thursday that will also begin selling the iPad in its stores on Oct. 28. So, you will be able to buy this iPad of Wi-Fi or Mi-Fi version of iPad on Verizon store. The carrier's data plans for the iPad start at $15 per month.

Pranav Mistry’s Sixth Sense Technology.

Android Tablet PC: Samsung Galaxy Tab shows its advantages (in comparison to iPad) in a video on YouTube

Right now, Samsung is promoting Galaxy Tab, the expected tablet of the company which has been scheduled to hit the stores in Europe and United States in a few weeks. Also, it will roll out to more regions of the world before the end of the year (for example some countries of Latin America). The announcement of the launch of Galaxy Tab has received an excellent reception from the press and an unexpected interest from potential users.

Everything began with the Apple iPad, which was first announced in January 2010, receiving mixed reactions. There was positive opinions focused on three aspects: The product quality that Apple always offers, the Apps platform which had already a growing number of developers of iPhone and iPod Touch applications, and the effectiveness of Apple when the company introduces new products. On the other hand, with the negative opinions, the usefulness of the product was put in doubt; iPad attracted criticism due to the lack of support for Adobe Flash (that is a real problem if you want to browse some websites), and the lack of cameras which makes impossible the implementation of several functionalities (such as video call).

At this time, Samsung is getting ready  to launch the major competitor of the iPad, and this company has made a decision that apparently would be the right decision according to some analysts: Its Galaxy Tab is smaller than iPad and comes with a 7-inch screen (the iPad has a 9.7-inch screen); for that reason, the Samsung tablet would be carried in a more easy way and would be grasped with only one hand, which is something difficult with the Apple product.

The rest of the features include several missing features in the iPad: Adobe Flash to browse the web without restrictions, two cameras with video call functionality, and Android 2.2 as operating system, which is the OS that is growing faster than any other in the market today.

Intel, AMD vie to rewire PC's brain


Intel and AMD are off to the races again. This time it's about making PCs not just faster, but more versatile.
The two longstanding PC chip rivals seem to agree, roughly, on one thing: the need to meld the two key PC chips, the central and graphics processing units, into one processor. But they both bring different strengths to achieve that end.
Why combine chips? Put simply, it takes less energy to move electrons across a chip than to move those same electrons between two chips, so this saves energy, resulting in better battery life for laptops. A point made by Insight 64 principal analyst Nathan Brookwood in a white paper written for AMD, but which, in some fundamental respects, applies equally to Intel.

And CPUs and GPUs are suited to different kinds of computing. CPUs can handle a broad array of tasks, while GPUs are more specialized but much faster at certain types of operations. Future heterogeneous chips could find photos and videos in your library that contain particular faces or places. Or recognize your face when you log in. In short, putting both capabilities on one piece of silicon creates a brainier chip with more processing brawn.
The question, of course, is which company will deliver the goods and drive cutting-edge PC--particularly laptop--designs in 2011? AMD claims that because it is also a supplier of GPUs, via its ATI graphics chip unit, its products are more forward-looking because of the increased emphasis on graphics that tap into key multimedia technologies like Microsoft's DirectX and Apple's OpenCL.
"Intel is understandably more CPU centric. That's Intel's view," said John Taylor, director of marketing for Fusion at AMD. "We're a provider (via ATI) of graphics chips. We're incorporating world-class GPU intellectual property into a new type of design. We look at the GPU in a consumer notebook as a very efficient compute engine as well as all of the wonderful 2D and 3D graphics capabilities," Taylor said, adding that Intel is just "sprinkling" low-level graphics on its CPUs.
Not surprisingly, Intel, the world's largest chipmaker, believes it has the upper hand because its cutting-edge manufacturing technology allows it to integrate more on a piece of silicon, sooner. Intel's Atom chip, for example, already melds two processing cores and the graphics function on a single piece of silicon.
And Intel was the first--early this year--to move to 32-nanometer technology, which allows the chipmaker to cram more functions onto the chip. (Globalfoundries, AMD's manufacturing partner, won't make that move until 2011.) The upcoming 32-nanometer Sandy Bridge architecture from Intel will represent the fruition of this effort. "Sandy Bridge combines multiple cores together with the graphics circuitry on the same chip," said Mark Bohr, Intel senior fellow. "The fact that we're an aggregate device manufacturer allows us to do internal optimization of all of these pieces and bring out a leading-edge product sooner than other companies."
So, here's a brief overview of laptop-centric technologies that AMD and Intel are planning to roll out over the next 6 to 12 months or so. Consumers, of course, will ultimately decide who prevails.
AMD's Ontario (2010):

Intel's Sandy Bridge
  • Single piece of silicon, combining CPU and GPU
  • Faster on-chip communication: different parts talk via "improved inter-buses."
  • Improvements to the way instructions are executed 
  • New instructions to accelerate multimedia: Intel Advanced Vector Extension (AVX) instructions. 
  • Improved Turbo Boost: slowing down, speeding up individual cores as needed. 
  • Special circuits for handling transcoding (conversion of video/audio from one format to another) 
  • 32-nanometer High K metal gate process 
  • Due to ship in Q4 (more details to be revealed at the Intel Developer Forum in September).

A few additional items worth noting:
High K metal: Intel has been building chips--since 2007-- with this transistor technology, which, generally yields chips that are faster and run cooler. AMD won't move to this technology until 2011.
32-nanometer: Intel has also been supplying 32-nanometer chips since early this year; AMD won't get there until 2011 but it is moving to an intermediate 40-nanometer process later this year.
AMD's "Bulldozer" core: This is a new 32-nanometer chip architecture due in the first half of 2011. Targeted initially at high-end desktop and servers, it will offer multi-threading, which increases the number of tasks a processing core can handle (Intel has been offering this for a long time). Bulldozer will yield high core counts (such as 8-core desktop chips) and support new x86 instructions, including SSE4.2 and AVX.

Latest TECH: Flexible, full-color OLED display

On May 24, Sony unveiled what it is calling the world's first flexible, full-color organic light emitting diode (OLED) display built on organic thin-film transistor (TFT) technology. OLEDs typically use a glass substrate, but Sony researchers developed new technology for forming organic TFT on a plastic substrate, enabling them to create a thin, lightweight and flexible full-color display. The 2.5-inch prototype display supports 16.8 million colors at a 120 x 160 pixel resolution (80 ppi, .318-mm pixel pitch), is 0.3 mm thick and weighs 1.5 grams without the driver.

According to Sony, which plans to release a new line of miniature TVs this year and is bolstering efforts to develop next-generation flat-panel OLEDs, this new technology will lead to the development of thinner, lighter and softer electronics.
The company is scheduled to present the results of its research at the SID 2007 International Symposium now underway in the US.

Baseband video consists of one video picture being sent point-to-point, such as the video output of a VCR to the video input of a monitor. Figure 1 illustrates simple point-to-point transmission. There exist two levels of service for baseband video: broadcast studio and consumer. These types describe, primarily, the quality of the signal. Broadcast studio quality requires a much higher signal fidelity, while consumer quality baseband requires is less demanding. In addition to the difference in signal fidelity, there is also a difference in the connectors typically used for the transmission of these signals. The broadcast baseband applications typically use a BNC connector and the consumer baseband applications typically uses an RCA connector.
 
 Baseband Video Signals
The most basic form of a television signal is a baseband video signal, also referred to as a composite video signal. In an AM baseband system, the input signal directly modulates the strength of the transmitter output, in this case light. The baseband signal contains information relative to creating the television picture only. The following information is carried on a baseband signal:

• Scanning: drawing the television picture
• Luminance: the brightness of the picture
• Chrominance: the color of the picture

The creation of the baseband signal produces a range of frequency components. The highest frequency in a baseband signal is also its bandwidth. The lowest frequency ranges close to zero Hz or DC. The video output of a television camera or video tape recorder has its highest frequency, therefore, its bandwidth, at either 4.2 or 6 MHz, depending on the type of TV format used. Looking at an actual baseband signal, illustrated in Figure 3, we can see that the camera and the video display are scanned horizontally and vertically. The horizontal lines on the screen are scanned alternately, with the odd numbered lines first and the even numbered lines second, or vice versa. (Figure 3B depicts the initial scan of the odd numbered lines.) This method is known as an interlacing system. The second method is to scan the lines sequentially; this is known as progressive Scanning. The camera and receiver must be synchronized when scanning and reproducing an image. The horizontal and vertical sync pulses regulate the synchronization of the camera and receiver, illustrated in both 3B and 3C, and starts a horizontal trace. As seen in Figure 3A, during the horizontal blanking interval, the beam returns to the left side of the screen and waits for the horizontal sync pulse before tracing another line. The dotted line illustrated the horizontal retrace. When the beam reaches the bottom of the screen, it must return to the top to begin the next field. This is called the vertical retrace, which is signaled by the vertical sync pulse illustrated in Figure 3C. The vertical retrace takes much longer than the horizontal retrace, therefore, a vertical blanking interval ensues to synchronize the two signals. Google makes it official: Phone calls now in Gmail !

Google launched the ability to make voice calls to any traditional phone number from a Gmail account Wednesday, which CNET had reported Tuesday was in testing. It's a blend of Gmail and Google Voice technology that allows users to dial numbers from their computers as well as receive incoming calls through one's Google Voice number.
Gmail users can link their Google Voice accounts with their Gmail accounts to have their in-boxes treated like just another line that will ring when people call their Google Voice numbers, and their Google Voice number will appear on the incoming call screen of those they are calling. A Google Voice account isn't required to use the service, but international calls will be funded through Google Voice accounts.
Calls to phone numbers in the U.S. and Canada will be free, and will cost 2 cents a minute to several other countries such as France and the U.K. The service should be rolling out to Gmail users in the U.S. on Wednesday, with international availability coming at an unspecified later date.
In a blog post announcing the feature, Google would only commit to offering free calls in the U.S. and Canada through the end of the year. Google's Craig Walker, product manager for real-time communications, said the company had no plans to raise rates beyond 2010, but it is still waiting to see if it will make enough margin on international calls to justify the free cost of U.S. and Canada calls. It will cost a little more to call mobile phones in countries outside the U.S., depending on the country.
Google Apps customers won't see this function just yet, no doubt disappointing some small-business customers looking to eliminate their phone bills. However, Google played it coy as far as plans for bringing out a business-friendly version of this technology, saying it wasn't ready as of yet but that it was interested in providing such a service.
The obvious target for such a service is Skype, the most well-known VoIP provider in the world with 124 million active users each month, according to data it released along with plans to raise money through an initial public offering. Google wouldn't confirm exactly how many Gmail users there are at present, only to say it was in the "hundreds of millions" according to Gmail product manager Todd Jackson.
However, Google has no plans to make this service available on mobile devices at the moment, which is an advantage for Skype and other VoIP companies. There are dozens of other mobile VoIP apps--including Skype--inside both Apple's App Store and the Android Market, although mobile VoIP is still a relatively new technology with performance problems from time to time. Google CEO Eric Schmidt has talked many times this year about the importance of developing applications for mobile devices, however, so it's not a stretch to assume Google is working toward making this feature available through either mobile browser or an Android application.
Google plans to promote the new service by installing Google Voice phone booths in various airports and universities around the U.S., where people will be able to step into the booths and make free phone calls.(bt cnet)
